Product Description

A versatile and streamlined bike hydration system.

This is my 3rd CamelBak in the last 12 years or so. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements that have been engineered into this product. The water bladder and tubing is of medical grade materials (TPU, Elastomers) and does not have the odor issues of PVC. One gets the impression that this product has been thoughtfully designed. The reflectors on the straps are great. The bladder is hung inside the bag, thus preventing it from sagging under heavy loads. The position is very comfortable on one's back and there is no shifting or bouncing on gnarly downhills unlike the older design. The only criticism is that the lower pocket should have two zippers. The reason is this: it opens very wide in an inverted U-shape fashion. If you forget to zip up on the trail, you will loose whatever is inside- and I have seen my fair share of items strewn on singletracks. A two zipper format is more of an insurance as you can by habit centralize the zippers to the middle of the pack.

All in all, a really nice product at a very fair price.

The CamelBak Better Bottle represents a new standard of performance and convenience in re-usable water bottles. Available in multiple colors and sizes, this innovative bottle is also BPA- and Phthalate-free. The bottle's integrated handle makes it easy to carry with the crook of a finger or clip to a backpack with a carabiner. The cap fits most other bottles and the Better Bottle attaches to most water filters and fits in most cup holders. It's dishwasher safe. What is BPA?
Bisphenol-A is an ingredient used to make polycarbonate. In recent months, there has been increasing consumer demand for a bottle that is not made with Bisphenol-A (BPA), and CamelBak is proud to introduce BPA-free bottles with the same great properties customers have come to expect from polycarbonate: vibrant color, clarity, durability, dishwasher-safe, and with no residual taste. As of the end of April 2008, the entire CamelBak bottle line will be available in BPA-Free materials in North America.
What are phthalates?
Phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) are a component added to some plastics to make them soft and pliable. None of CamelBak's bottles have ever contained phthalates.
What is the BPA-free Better Bottle made from?
The CamelBak Better Bottle line is made from a new copolyester polymer called Tritan, made by Eastman. It offers the same great qualities that we have come to expect from polycarbonate bottles and is 100 percent BPA-Free. The Big Bite Valve is made of medical-grade silicone for long life and taste-free performance.
About CamelBak
CamelBak is the originator and world leader in hands-free hydration systems. The first CamelBak products proved to be very popular among mountain bikers and motocross riders, because it allowed them to drink without taking their hands off of the handlebars in technical terrain. The product began to cross over into other sports when scientific studies showed athletes drank more fluids and performed better when they wore a CamelBak. Since then, athletes from an ever-growing list of sports and activities use CamelBak hydration systems for their convenience and performance benefits.
In addition to cycling, CamelBak has Hands-Free Hydration systems for hiking, running, snowboarding and skiing. CamelBak’s state-of-the-art packs and hydration systems have benefited athletes, outdoorsmen, and soldiers around the world. While CamelBak has grown tremendously since the early days, one thing hasn't changed: CamelBak still believes in the performance advantage that proper hydration delivers for just about any activity. The privately-held company is headquartered in Petaluma, California.

The spill proof bottle that makes it easy to stay hydrated on the go. Available in 3 sizes and BPA FREE

This review is from: CamelBak BPA-Free Better Bottle with Classic Cap (Misc.)
...if you are a regular and massive water drinker like me. I carry water around with me all day and drink easily a gallon per day, so I figured that investing in a BPA-Free container makes a lot of sense in the long run.

Also the construction and materials of these bottles is top-notch. Very sturdy, and the plastic they use for the lid is both visually and tactilely pleasant. Where the lid screws onto the bottle, it seems to be slightly softer so it's quite leakproof and you don't have to twist it super tight for it to prevent leakage like you do with some cheaper bottles.

The shape is perfect for fitting into the mesh water-bottle side pockets of my backpacks, a SwissGear laptop pack and a Jansport daypack. One liter ties me over for a good 2-3 hours. I use one of these bottles for water, and another one for Gatorade whenever I go to the gym.

The plastic loop in the lid is great for carrying with one finger or clipping onto a strap on your backpack; it also helps you twist to open the lid. Pretty smart design!

Overall, this is one product that DOES live up to the "You get what you pay for" cliche.

* CLEANING TIP: All you need to do is clean with hot water and add a drop or two of bleach to it, then rinse. I only have to do that maybe once every 2-3 weeks, and I use my bottle every day just about. Most of the time just a simple rinse in warm water will do, but the odor develops over time due to growth of the bacteria in the backwash that happens every time you drink from it---if you pour the water out of the bottle into a glass instead of drinking directly from the bottle, I'd imagine you wouldn't have any odor issues.

Product Description

Product Description

A sleek multi use hydration system.

replaced my old Classic with the new 70 oz. Classic style. My old Camelbak had great quality and lasted over 10 years. It is actually still in good shape, but I got tired of the time it took to put ice in the small bladder opening.

The new model looks to have the same excellent quality and adds a small pouch (which is good to have) for keys, money, etc. I really enjoy having the large mouth on the opening and the tab at the base of the opening adds a nice handle to make screwing on/off the lid easy. The fit of the new Classic V's out more over the shoulders. This makes it feel wider. The shoulder straps are full nylon vs. mesh on the old style. I believe this is for comfort, but I had no issues with comfort on my old model and can't say it is an advantage for me. The wide shoulder opening makes it easier to get on/off, but it is not as stable without hooking the chest strap. The old model did not have a chest strap.

Finally, I like the fact that the water draw tube is shorter. The older one dangled too low and got in the way sometimes. The angle of the nipple on the tube seems to be off and I have to twist the tube when grabbing it for a drink. This is something I should be able to adjust. I fully expect to enjoy the new Classic for a long time.
